Developing the next generation of world-class immunologists is critical to building our future innovation-capable workforce. The Queensland Immunology Research Centre (QIRC) is contributing to this by providing additional support to PhD students to allow them to focus on creative research, engagement, training and mentorship to build new pathways in medical research.

Our Postgraduate Scholarship Top-Up program provides opportunities for outstanding students enrolled in a postgraduate degree. 

Eligibility Criteria

Scholarships top-ups are available to current full-time and part-time PhD students undertaking a higher degree by research where they are jointly co-supervised by personnel of both The University of Queensland and QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute. This collaboration allows students to maintain and develop their university connections while being exposed to research at a medical research institute to build networks between the two institutions.

Funding Available 

Up to four scholarships top-ups are available in this round and are valued at $8,000 each. 

Successful recipients will receive the top-up amount either as a one-off payment or distributed across the three months of 2025 on top of their fortnightly stipend. This decision will be at the discretion of the student’s primary institute.

Applications close 5pm, Friday 11 April 2025. Applicants will be notified by email by the end of May with the outcome of their submission.
